In the case of a laptop, wireless would usually mean that the laptop doesn't need an extra device to connect to a network or to the Internet (wireless LAN). Aside from the wireless device that the laptop already has, it could be that the laptop also has a Bluetooth device already built into it, which is also a wireless technology.

In other words, a wireless-enabled laptop already has wireless devices already built into it, so no need to purchase separate devices.

You can purchase a wireless router for your home and a wireless enabled laptop will be able to pick up Internet signal anywhere in the house without having to buy anything else.

Also if you go to a coffee shop, hotel or other place with a wireless 'hotspot' you will be able to sign in and use the Internet.

You want this feature on a modern laptop.

It means that your laptop is equipped with a wireless adapter that allows a device to connect to a wireless network. These adapters connect to devices using various interconnects such as PCI, USB, and PCMCIA.
Wireless local area networks (WLAN) are based on the IEEE 802.11 specifications.
So you will need a wireless router and a broadband access service provider (Cable or ADSL).
Or you can seek out places where you can access a WiFi hotspot.
