You have to be near a router to recieve the signal.

Most places like coffee shops, hotels, schools, airports and even malls will have built in wireless access. To get it at home, or around the house, you will need to buy your own router to connect to an internet connection.

You need to be near a wireless connection, or you need to get a wireless access card like the one from Sprint. Even with an access card you may still run into dead spots. We are not at the point of perfect reception and coverage yet.
