I want to know how internet works on a laptop. I heard something about cards. And the wifi card picks up the hotspots?

But how do you get laptop internet like desktop internet but without the wires. And definatly not dialup. Some type of broadband

I'll be using it for classes, internet, iTunes, and hopefully, if I can figure it out, a TV tuner. Also, can anyone explain the basics of TV tuners to me quickly? Thanks!

Should I wait to see if there will be a glitch in the system or assume all is well and go ahead and buy it? And my mom wants a computer with at least 2 gigahertz and 2 cd/cd-rom/dvd drives and with alot of memory for me. Possibly in the 200-600 $ range. Help!

Please help, My laptop display has gone weird, although its a widescreen the display now only fills 4/5 of the screen width. The blank section is black and at the bottom its all flickery. The laptop operates fine, all programs and other functions are fine. Is this a hardware problem? If so can it be fixed? I know laptop components are all on one board, will this mean a new motherboard? Any help will be rewarded with a hug for girls or a backslap for boys...

alright so i have a question!

I'm planning on switching to a mac...I'm looking at the mac book right now (black)..Problem is intel has just announced this chip... Would it be worth it to wait until its released and apple starts putting it in there comps? What are the real benefits that i will be getting from it ? Any and all info that you could give me would be much appreciated

My computer will not start, after I press the power button, I get a long beep every 3-5 seconds. The bios doesnt even start. I have the power supply hooked up to the motherboard, the cdrw, and the hard drive, I dont see the problem. Somebody please explain the solution.

My Dell laptop was shipped with a massive resource hog, PC-illin..or something like that, and I'd like to install a simple firewall and A/V. I have the free version of AVG but it will be expiring soon. The only bonus of this PC-illin' is wireless network detection but I'd like to find something else. Any suggestions?

It worked last night. I know the battery is dead (and you cant run it without the adapter) but it wont turn on with the adapter either. The green light shows that the adapter is functioning but the green light on the front of the laptop wont light up and it wont turn on...

okay im going on a trip tonight, my brother is driving. We are going skeeing. I have some work i would like to get done, its optional tho. I was wondering if having my laptop sit in a car for 2 hours will harm it. The weather tonight will stand around 15 degrees.
