I have accidently pressed some keys on my laptop which has caused my screen to be enlarged and has also taken my favourites toolbar away from the left hand side of my screen. Can anyone advise me on how to get it back to normal again, I have already shut it down and also asked for help from the support site to no avail, many thanks

I have a Compaq Presario 1700 laptop that's a few years old now. It's got a Pentium III with a 1000MHz CPU, 256MB RAM (two 128MB sticks), and a 20GB hard drive (of which I have about 1GB free space). Since I only have two memory slots and both are used up by 128MB sticks, I'm thinking of replacing one of them with a 256MB stick (according to Compaq's web page, the laptop is only upgradable to 512MB). I would love to replace both with two (2) 256MB sticks so I have the max of 512MB total (or better yet, buy a new laptop), but I only have enough in my budget for one (1) 256MB stick, for a new total of 384MB (128MB in slot one plus 256MB in slot two). My question is, will an extra 128MB of RAM even make much difference in my situation, or should I save my money?

i've never used a macbook. i need some help because i dont know how difficult might it be to change from windows to mac. all i know about the macbook is that it has a very clean and beautiful look, and it's selling very well now. however, i'm used to certain ms applications like office. i am used to using word, powerpoint and i was wondering if the mac would have it's own version of ms office too. if not, then is there anything such as a mac-compatible ms office? please, i need some good answers, like slightly detailed ones. please provide me with all the info u can, because i am planning to buy a macbook in the next one year and i don't want to make a hasty purchase. the deserving gets a best answer and 5 stars!

I am losing it with computer companies!!!

I have a Dell Latitude Notebook about 5 years old. The Backspace key has popped off because the little white tab that attaches the key to the keyboard has worn enough that it won't fit back the hole.

Anyway, I have taken it to about three computer repair guys who charged me 10-20 bucks to tell me they couldn't fix it after 60 seconds.

I phoned Dell, and they will not sell me the peice, as they do not make replacement parts for keyboards, even laptops!

What advice do any of you have for me? Is there anyone with a dead Latitude notebook that would pop off the button? What else could be done? I am going crazy!!!

I bought a brand new computer at Comp USA. Two weeks passed and my harddrive burned. Comp USA fixed it because it was under a year warranty. However, I was scared about it breaking down so I bought a 2 year extended warranty. This was about $155 including tax. However it starts the day I bought the computer. So basically it is a one year warranty after the one year HP warranty expires. I was told this AFTER I bought the warranty.

Anyways , do you think I made a wise investment even though I thought the warranty should have started after the first year and not overlapped it? Electronics break so quickly!!

Hi,

I just bought a laptop tonight that was the last one on display at a retail store. How do I reset everything to factory settings? I want it to be just like if I were to open it from a sealed box.

By the way, it's running Windows XP Professional.

Thanks!

I am getting a new laptop and I was planning on choosing an Intel Celeron Duo processor to put on my laptop, but if I choose that the company I'm ordering from requires that you order Windows XP Professional along with it which is 50 dollars extra, even though I only want regular Windows XP. This frustrates me that they would force me to pay extra money for something I don't even want, so I am thinking about just choosing the cheapest processor that doesn't require you to also get Windows XP Professional.

The cheapest processor is the Intel Celeron M Processor 430 / Cel-M 1.73 GHz. I have noooo idea what this is and I don't know if it will be sufficient for me. Typically on the computer I run about 2-3 websites at a time along with Aol Instant Messenger and occasionally Limewire. Will that processor be good enough to support all of that or do you recommend I just bite the bullet and get the other processor?

I really appreciate any help!

I am buying a laptop from Hp for myself and the operating system available is Windows Vista...my mom bought a laptop from Hp just a few weeks ago and she got Windows XP on hers which is what I was wanting. I've never heard of Windows Vista before and that's making me leary of getting an HP laptop now because I have no clue what it is...is it just an improvement on XP or what?

Dell laptops have a new operating system, right?.. but the thing is, i ordered the latest which says Centrino Core 2 Duo but the sticker on the laptop says Centrino Duo.. so did they install the wrong system for me, or is it supposed to be that way.
Also, my hard drive which was upgraded to 80GB, when i checked, is actually only 67GB or lower.. so should i launch a complaint, or just let it be??
