i've never used a macbook. i need some help because i dont know how difficult might it be to change from windows to mac. all i know about the macbook is that it has a very clean and beautiful look, and it's selling very well now. however, i'm used to certain ms applications like office. i am used to using word, powerpoint and i was wondering if the mac would have it's own version of ms office too. if not, then is there anything such as a mac-compatible ms office? please, i need some good answers, like slightly detailed ones. please provide me with all the info u can, because i am planning to buy a macbook in the next one year and i don't want to make a hasty purchase. the deserving gets a best answer and 5 stars!

As for your greatest worry, YES, there is MS Office for Macs.

I don't have a Macbook, but I do have an iMac and I love it. I also have a Windoze PC and I much prefer the Mac. It's far less maintenance, easier to use (once you Windows deprogramme yourself lol), and you won't regret getting one.

Also, the new Intel Macs allow you to run Windows, so any application that you might not find a similar Mac substitute for you can always run on Windows through your Mac using Bootcamp.

I also was afraid to purchase a Mac-Book too because I was unfamiliar with it and didn't want to pay the extra price. I was unsure if it could run any Windows applications like .doc files. BUT life is about conquering your fears so I took the plunge. At first it was frustrating because I didn't know how to operate the short-cut keys, but after a few months getting to know my MAC I've been very very happy. The best thing about the Mac is I haven't had to worry about Viruses & Spyware. No more reformatting my PC every 3 months. The Mac does have a text editor that runs .doc files and you can purchase Windows software for the MAC if you want (personally I wouldn't).
ALSO just an FYI- I also purchase a wireless mouse because the Mac Book doesn't have a right mouse click and this is one feature I love on PCs.

There is at least one book, the name escapes me at the moment, that helps in the transition from Windows to Mac OS X. Mac OS X's Help Viewer app also has a section devoted to people who have switched from Windows.

As for Office, Microsoft develops a Mac version of Office alongside the Windows version.

So Word, Excel and PowerPoint would work as you are accustomed to, just with a different interface.

The new Macs also have the ability to run Windows natively. So you could install Windows to help ease the transition a bit. With Apple's Boot Camp beta, you create a partition upon which you can install Windows, and dual-boot between Mac OS X and Windows. There's also Parallels, which is a virtual machine solution that allows you to create a virtual machine that you install Windows in, and it runs Windows like it is just another application on the Mac.

Most of the applications you are used to usually either have Mac versions, or there is comparable software available.

Edit: rusty_1491: System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Trackpad tab... select "Place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click" Right-click (kinda) on your MacBook.

Macintosh does have copies of Microsoft Office, they are real easy to use. Mac's are more user friendly and fun to use. they are also easier to fix, i myself am a technition and i perfer macs over pc's when it come to repairs. Pc's are better for organizing, watching and storing video+pictures+music, but when it come to editing them a mac would be better. For gamers a PC would be better because you can modify it for your needs but a Mac cannot be modded easily. Switching from one to the other should be because you need it for a specific purpose, but if you just want to have a computer then i suggest a mac, they are fun and easy to use.
