I bought a brand new computer at Comp USA. Two weeks passed and my harddrive burned. Comp USA fixed it because it was under a year warranty. However, I was scared about it breaking down so I bought a 2 year extended warranty. This was about $155 including tax. However it starts the day I bought the computer. So basically it is a one year warranty after the one year HP warranty expires. I was told this AFTER I bought the warranty.

Anyways , do you think I made a wise investment even though I thought the warranty should have started after the first year and not overlapped it? Electronics break so quickly!!

No it's not cheaper to buy it from HP. in fact, it was only $3 cheaper from the manufacturer.

It depends on your luck with electronics. If your things tend to break easily, it might be best to get a warranty. If you're not afraid to open it up and fix it yourself, then I'd say its not worth it.

I wouldn't recommend spending money on extended warranty, sales assistants get commission for every one they sell its in there interest that's why they will try very hard to get you to part with the extra money. Chances are by the time you need it you will have lost the all important papers required to make a claim or the part that goes wrong wont be covered and out of all the people i know who have taken out extra cover non have needed it and could have spent the money on something that they did, if your worried put the $99 into a repair fund or use the $99 towards the cost of a new one if it does go wrong. A lot can happen in two years you might move house and not take your 2 year old ( out of date ,wrong size wrong colour) washing machine with you

Did you know that if you called the manufacturer the warranty is really cheap. Call the manufacturer and ask them what it would cost, then go to Comp USA and get your money back on the extended warranty.

DID you know tht HP has the warranty cheaper and if you spill ANYTHING on the computer to make it break down, even though it is your fault, they will still fix it. Hmmm, can CompUSA match that. Don't think so.
