this is interesting. every damn one of the answers i saw run from assinine to wrong. if you spill liquid on a keyboard immediately turn it upside down. as soon as possible get a little phillips screw drive to unfaster about a dozen screws. the thing comes apart like a clam. then you will find a rubber membrade with holes for each key get some alcohol and cotton buds and take an hour or so to get it all clean where some liquid got in. clean the rubber membrane in a sink of warm water and dish detergent. let it dry and put it all back together. aint no bigger. have done so many times i cannot remember. sometimes if you really screw up and spill a nondiet drink in the thing and let it dry, you really have a problem. maybe have to go to staples and buy another. but coffee, diet drinks, tea, water etc. are no problem.

Consider. Cost of contact lens = £200 Cost of keyboard = less than a fiver. ( Wireless = £20) Best scenario = remove 10 x Phillips screws from base of key board and remove anything that does not live there.Replace base and screw back in place. Worst case scenario = wreck the keyboard, extract offending optical device and buy new keyboard

Had the same problem, but with removing cat with sharp claws, LOL.
Called Compaq, new key board ran $70.00 for part, went to Best Buy and they wanted $250.00. To install same.
Looked it over and keys have little rubber cups on the bottom. Ah Ha!! super clue! Been working just find, the "L" key is flaky, have to punch it hard some times but beat the heck out to spending $250.

What part broke?
most computer keyboards are easy enough to fix.
Super glue may even work. if there is part of the keyboard above the mylar.

Usually they will snap right in. Place it down where it goes and press down.
