My Dell laptop was shipped with a massive resource hog, PC-illin..or something like that, and I'd like to install a simple firewall and A/V. I have the free version of AVG but it will be expiring soon. The only bonus of this PC-illin' is wireless network detection but I'd like to find something else. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the answers so far. I plan on using ZoneAlarm for my firewall, but what's available at no cost for wireless network detection?

AVAST is by far the best free anti virus program. I've tried AVG, and Avast does a better job at finding, removing and preventing viruses.

If you are satisfied with AVG you can download the new 7.5 version for free also on the Grisoft web site. I just downloaded it this morning.
