1)Disconnect everything, pull out all cards
2)Plug in power to motherboard
3)Pull out memory and put only the 1st memory chip back in. Make sure it is seated properly.
4)Put in video card, make sure it is seated properly
5) Connect Keyboard and mouse and monitor
6) Power up computer. if it's still beeping, try another memory stick, or video card or your motherboard is fried.
Make sure the cpu is seated right on the motherboard as well.

If it doesn't beep then, power off and plug in the HD, and continue by adding one component at a time and then powering it on to see if it's working.

Sounds like a bad motherboard. Try unplugging everything from it except the power and see if it comes up or if the beep changes. Also remove any cards aside from the video card if there is one. If no change - remove things like the video card (unless it's built in) or try removing the memory and see if it gives a memory beep code. Obviously you can't boot up without a video card or memory but you want to see if the beep changes. If it does it could be one of them that is bad. If the beep stays the same then it's the motherboard.

If you unplug everything except the power supply, the bios WILL beep because everything is missing (video, keyboard, memory?). You should google "bios beep codes" to figure out what those beeps mean, but here is one site: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

Also maybe you're power supply is not hooked up properly -- new motherboard seem to also need that small 4prong plug, too.

actually there is a method to all the beeping. Most (well all) computers have a BIOS beep code. It beeps when things are wrong. Different beep sequences = different problems. It could be anyone of the things other people have said... but best to go to the manufacturers website and check to see what you beepcode means

I had a similar situation to the one you are suffering with, I then noticed my power on button was stuck in to far and that kept my computer from starting properly. I hope this resolves your problem. I can also say make sure there is no cd in drive asyou startup, as the computer tries to read from this

Had this difficulty with the computer i'm on now. grew to grow to be out the hardchronic went undesirable, no longer an endemic yet only crapped out. So I had to get a clean one ($40), and purchase a drivers disk from HP ($15), and now all is properly.

long beeps are caused by two reasons
ur RAM is unplugged
ur graphic card is not working
in case of RAM try to change the memory bank and see if it works.
if does not then try with some other RAM module
if it does not work
then ur graphic card is not working for sure

look up in your motherboard manual what the beeps mean. those beeps are a code emanating from your MB that tell you exactly what the problem is. every MB is different.

Sounds like your memory may be bad or not seated properly. Also, if you have changed anything in the past few days, consider removing it and seeing if that fixes the problem.
