okay im going on a trip tonight, my brother is driving. We are going skeeing. I have some work i would like to get done, its optional tho. I was wondering if having my laptop sit in a car for 2 hours will harm it. The weather tonight will stand around 15 degrees.

I do care for my laptop as it has cost me alot of money. 2 grand to be specific because i like my games :-)

Condensation is your problem.

Your computer may work fine at 15 degrees, but it will rapidly warm up and moisture will appear. It may be a light fog or it may actually form visible droplets of water. This may happen on your screen and/or underneath your keyboard.

That being said, I've never had a problem with any such condensation. But it does happen, and your computer will get wet.

Well generally it's the heat you need to worry about (like letting it sit in the car for 2 hours in the dead heat of summer). But in this case, I'd be more worried about condensation creeping into your laptop. Water + electronics = not good. If you have a really good case for it (well padded) then it may be ok for just 2 hours, but I would definitely let it sit in room temperature for a little while before booting it up.

By the way, my laptop cost about 2 grand too. So I can definitely relate to your concern.

Simplest rule of thumb, if you cant not stand the cold, chances are your laptop won't either. Every laptop will come with a manual which will tell you it's operating temparature. If you dont have a manual, google the model as most manufacturers will have the manual online.

If you are using it in the car than it is fine. Remember the screen is and LCD meaning liquid crystal display. Very cold temperatures can really destroy a screen.

The colder the better. Performance will be better if operated in the cold. Moisture in the form of condensation is your enemy.
