I have an HP laptop that has 256MB of RAM. I'd love to add another 256, but I do not want to burn up my processor. How can I find out how much memory I can safely add on to my computer?

You can add the maximum amount that your motherboard will allow. You can easily find this out by going here and putting in the make and model of your system:

My guess would be a max of 2GB, 2 available slots, 1GB max per slot... Current configuration is 256x0 or 128x128

Theres no need to ever bother about your computer's capabilities if you have BELARC ADVISOR installed. This cool piece of software lets you know anything and everything including your software licence numbers. It's free. It works.
