Alot of laptops these days come with built in wireless connection. In this case, your laptop will automatically pick up a signal if theres a hotspot around.

you can buy special connectors for wired networks ( if your computer doesnt already have a spot to plug an eathernet cable in)

or you can buy a PCMCIA card. they plug into the pci slots on your computer and come with software to help you connect to the internet.

Both Sprint and Cingular have an Internet card for laptops ...

I use both ... I travel a lot and depending on the area that I am in ... is to which one I use ...

Sprint is more consistent than Cingular over all ... but in the right area Cingular is faster than Sprint ...

Just my personal experience ...

As for the price on each ... well I get a Business discount ... so I can't tell you what the prices for you would be ... but for me ... Cingular is cheaper ... than Sprint ... but Sprint works in more areas when I need it to across the United State anyway ...

Good Luck ...

it depends on what type of computer you have. example, hp, apple, dell etc
i have an hp. now my computer came with the drivers already installed. but my computer crashed and i had to resore all the drivers. if you go to the computer brands webstie (example: www.hp.com) there will be a place where you can reinstall the drivers into your computer. all you have to know is what model you computer is. some computer brands have websites that can read what your computer model is just by pressing a certain button.
when you look at the driver menu it will show you all the drivers they have available. once you find the one you need just press the download driver button and then it's installed. some older computer models don't have that feature available, so you might not be able to get wireless that way. you would have to get a wifi card installed in your laptop.
hope that helps

Plug up your cat5 OR depending on how old the laptop is you may have a built in wireless card! I know right, amazing. But if your laptop is OLD it will require a wireless card which you can pick up from your local walmart...

You need a wireless card if it's not built in, and if you're using it in your house, you need a wireless router. I recommend getting one that works with WiFi so you can use it in airports, cafes, etc.

My favorite brand is NetGear, but some companies (such as Verizon FIOS) make you use their wireless router.
