Please help, My laptop display has gone weird, although its a widescreen the display now only fills 4/5 of the screen width. The blank section is black and at the bottom its all flickery. The laptop operates fine, all programs and other functions are fine. Is this a hardware problem? If so can it be fixed? I know laptop components are all on one board, will this mean a new motherboard? Any help will be rewarded with a hug for girls or a backslap for boys...

sounds like you may have give your laptop a smack somehow , and may have dislodged the circuit board plug . But on the other hand it sounds also like you have lost your screen drivers .Put your system Cd in the drive and try a system restore remembering to save to disk or floppy any files you need to keep . I had a Toshiba that used to do it regularly and disappear into a small 5x5 screen reinstalling the drivers cured it ...Hope this helps.......Vortash

Hi its quite possible that some how you have the wrong driver installed for the laptop, make sure the driver is correct for the display adapter you have in your laptop. Or you can try right click on the screen clicl properties then select display make sure you have the correct display setting set for your wide screen laptop
