Every time I try to transfer music to a disc I get error messages saying I need to try a different brand or that the disc is dirty..........it ISNT DIRTY!! I've tried it with media player, sonic and realplayer. I have no luck. What the heck is wrong with this thing? It was soooooo easy on my sony desktop!!

My sisters and I have bought my mom Dell Laptop for x-mas... the problem is her home doesn't allow any DSL connections. The locall companies said that they can only do Dial-up connections. Which is another problem since the time that the house was built, there are no real good connections for another telephone line except the one she is using. Yeah... crazy story don't ask... But any (positive) ideas would be greatly appreciated... Thanks,
E
P.S.
The Dell laptop have a wireless card already in it.

Ok, i recently did like 2 system restores, thinking that they meant no harm. A few days later, i noticed a small increase of used GB in my hard drive. So i tested it out, thinking it was the System restore. And it was, so every time i did a system restore, more data was added to my computer. I tried undoing my restores but that didn't work either. Im not sure what to do now, my laptop has more than 3/4 of its GB taken u =( i dont kno how to delete the files i dont want or nething because the files i dont want, i cant find since i undid my system restore. What should i do??? I was thinking of formatting....

I'm gonna need it for college, so I don't feel like bringing bulky ones. E1405 is for travelers and is good for carrying it around and has a longer battery life. On the other hand, E1505 has a bigger memory, with 1GB and I think its graphics is also better cause it has NVIDIA. I'm a little gamer and I have to put the sims 2 in it with all the expansion packs so I'm thinking of investing on a laptop with more memory so it would last a long time. I'm really confused and your help would be much appreciated. I would also pick the best answer! ;)

The lcd on a laptop has gone totally black. With a flashlight pointed to the screen I can see that WINXP starts up and is working perfectly, so i'm asuming the black screen has something to do with the ccfl or perhaps the inverter. Does anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to fix the display problem or if this has nothing to do with the ccfl but something else?

Hello. I would like to buy a laptop. I would use it for school work, messging people and surfing the web. I'm not a big gamer so that isn't a problem to me. I also want it to have wireless internet. Any price suggestions? Types?

I am currently at University looking to invest in a new notebook. I mainly use my laptop for: Writing essays in word, Internet, Occasional PowerPoint Presentation, Uploading Photos/Videos, Web chat / Instant Mesaging.

I have been looking at both windows based machines and the macbook but am still unsure which to choose.

+ what is Macs compatability like, if i'm looking to print documents off which i have done in word on a mac, will i be able to do this at university which uses windows machines?
Are most programs which you can buy compatable with a mac?

As you can probably tell i'm angling toward the mac, but i just don't have enough experience to make the decision. (£900 is ALOT of money to a student!!!)

I need a floppy drive for a secure program. for the program to work the floppy must be the A: drive. My problem is that modern laptops don't have 1.44 floppy drives. If I buy a usb floppy will it recognize the floppy as the a: drive or will it make it the F:, G:, H: drive?
