I've heard that the mouse pad on laptops tends to go bad if you use them too much. Does anyone suggest any specific brands?

I am wanting to buy a better battery for my Dell laptop so it lasts longer without being plugged in. If I buy a Refurbished: 56 WHr Lithium-Ion Additional battery for $56.95 is that a good deal? What will I actually be getting, and how long will it actually last without being connected to the AC adpater? Thanks for any help!

I got my laptop not even one year ago. It was top of the line Toshiba, with a dual processer, and all that jazz... How long would you wait before purchasing Windows Vista? Will they put the system in stores, and then still try to work out the bugs? I like the idea of updating from XP to Vista, but I dont want to pay for something thats just going to jack up my computer. I ran the Vista upgrade manager and it came back with a lot of different things that might have problems, such as my HD Sound, and other fancy things... What would you do? I am almost to the point where I dont want to spend the cash, just to jack up my system...

I have also heard its going to use up more laptop battery... someone please tell me why I should buy Vista...

All answers I found when searching this error say to change LAN setting in BIOS to the end (cause you can't remove) and I have done this. I have also seen people write that people usually get this error after installing something new - I've not installed any new programs. I also tried starting in Safe Mode but when I hit it, it just restarts. I don't know very much about computers so anyones help would be appreciated. All I know for sure is on my computer problems has happened 2 months late. My warranty just ran out! Thank you very much.

When I insert the disk it trys to run it, then makes clicking noises and stops. It does not recognize that a disk is in. I am able to play cd's and dvd's perfectly fine, but not my game disks. Why is this? I have troubleshooted, and uninstalled/reinstalled but still not working. I would like to avoid purchasing a new computer as it seems silly when only one component is not working. Any ideas??

My CD drive is...pretty old. It won't read a single CD, it just spits 'em out. I know because I tried a brand new blank CD-R on it, and still nothing.
Well, I could use some help. I can replace the drive, that much I know, but is it possible to fix it in another way?

I have a HP DV5000 laptop. It runs on a AMD Turion64. Something nasty apparently happened and totaly corrupted the C:\ drive. I got out my XP Pro SP2 CD to attempt to repair or reinstall windows. It starts to load setup but before it gets to the install/repair section I get an error. viaide.sys is missing or corrupt. setup cannot continue. Knowing this is a VIA IDE buss driver, I was horrified that my HD was fried. I went into BIOS and did the long and short HD tests. Both passed. I tried to install/repair windows again. Same viaide.sys error. I booted the PC with a Win98 Boot CD. FDISK showed no C:\ partition, so created/formated one. Tried to install/repair windows again. Same viaide.sys error. I put Setup and the I386 files on the HD. Ran Setup from the HD. Got This file cannot run in DOS error. Ran setup from the cmd prompt @ CD drive. Same viaide.sys error. Went to HP site. Problem is not addressed. Found out PC has a TI Buss so why a VIA driver error? How do I get XP to install??

Different countries have different specification of Current and Voltage for their electric supply. So will an electronic equipment bought in one country work in another country with 'different' current. If not, is there any 'adapter' which can be used?
