My CD drive is...pretty old. It won't read a single CD, it just spits 'em out. I know because I tried a brand new blank CD-R on it, and still nothing.
Well, I could use some help. I can replace the drive, that much I know, but is it possible to fix it in another way?

i'm notably specific which you would be able to could desire to open up your mac and restore the concern from the interior. If there's a mac keep close to you're making an appointment with the genius and get them to check out it. in case you have the applecare plan then you definately would be totally lined and could no longer could desire to pay a ingredient yet once you do no longer and that they can charge you determine you say which you haven't any longer spilled or dropped the product because of the fact they won't restore it for then you definately.

You can try a drive cleaner in case the lens is dirty, and you can uninstall the drivers and reboot to get the original drivers, but if it's a hardware problem it'll be cheaper to replace it than to repair it.

If it is"...pretty old "it might not be able to read cdr's.You might try having a system disk in the drive when you boot up to make sure it is recognized, sometimes this is all it takes.
