You may need to clean the heat sink, also check if the fans are working properly. If possible get is serviced at the service center

If your fans are not running or if you have debris in the heatsink it will cause the system to turn off unexpectedly. Check your BIOS to see what the temperature is running after you turn your system for a few hour then let it run and see how long it takes to climb.

It depends on where the notebook is heating up. If the battery seems extremley hot discontinue using it. Several PC manufacturers and Apply were hit by a bad lot of Sony batteries. You can check on their websites for battery recall programs. If it is not the battery, you'll have to take it to a service shop.

You may have a faulty battery. With all of the recalls this past year due to batteries catching fire, you might check and see if yours is one of them. They were mostly batteries made by Sony but were distributed in all brands of laptops. They were recalled so free replacements were provided.
