I have a toshiba laptop. I've never had problems with it so I'm not even sure the machine is the problem. Every time I try to transfer music to a disc I get error messages saying I need to try a different brand or that the disc is dirty..........it ISNT DIRTY!! I've tried it with media player, sonic and realplayer. I have no luck. What the heck is wrong with this thing? It was soooooo easy on my sony desktop!!

AND, the cd's I have used are brand new each time so I know they're blanks. Could it be the format of the music? I have downloaded some of the music and I've also copied some to my machine from other cd's. It seems like the downloaded ones are the problem. If I remember correctly, the last time I created a CD it worked with music from another CD rather than downloads...... keep the answers coming!!

toshibas tend to have this problem,, mine does too! what is happening is that the laser on the drive is worn out. I got mine fixed for about 45 bucks.

Maybe you have the wrong disks.

But the most likely reason is that the music disks you are using have been copy protected and this will also bring up this message.

Ways to try and get around this will involve downloading packages and codecs but I have no idea which ones you would require.

I hope this helps though...
You are right it is highly unlikely your pc.

I could be the CD you are using.... If you are sure its not dirty, then maybe it already has some memory on it. When you buy yur CDs check and see if they are okay for a toshiba laptop, cause they may not be. If it doesn't say, it could be HOW you got your music on your laptop

Are you using R/W discs?

You can't make playable cd's with RW's - only on R's.

RW's will only play on a computer. If you're trying to make discs that play on a car or home sterio you have to use cd-r's.

I just came across a site that sends you a laptop for free! I'm ordering mine right now, it's a Sony VAIO and it looks really hot!
