My computer has picked up a virus. I used Limewire. I think that it came from there. My Interenet explorer won't work (I normally use Mozilla). Norton AntiVirus isnt picking it up. Liveupdate won't work. A lot of sites simply will not come up and a new program i bought won't pick it up or fix it either. Also, it will just randomly reload and reboot after I first turn it on. Has anyone had this problem?

Here's one of the error messages I got...

CiceroV1Wndframe
Application error
Ox771b4446 memory ax Ox03956800
required data not placed into memory
1/0 error status
Oxc000009c

Please help me fix this!!!

My notebook's sceen is very dark for a while. It is very hard to see the display. There is small amount of display. I have been using an external pc monitor for a long time and it works fine. I called HP, they just suggest to take it to a service and it costs almost a laptop money. . I still hope there is something that l can do manually but l could not figure it out. Do you have any suggestions that I can bring the screen back?

I have heard so much about both, and I am pretty much convinced that AMD Athlon is better - but - i've heard that there are a lot of incompatibilites between AMD and windows because of a deal made by Intel with windows. also, which is better in general for a laptop? I am not a hardcore gamer, i just want absolute reliability and longevitiy for a desktop replacement laptop. i want something that will last me AT LEAST 3 years with no hassles.

...also whats your opinion on which is a better bet - xp home or pro or media center?

I'm going to college this fall and am looking around for a good laptop to carry with me. I'm considering an apple because I've heard that they are reliable and don't crash. I'm open to any and all suggestions for good deals. I want something that can handle a lot of writing and can play games possibly (like world of warcraft). It's not required that it can do video games, though, because it's mainly for school (but it'd be a plus!). I want my laptop to have 1GB of RAM, wireless capabilities, portability, reliability, and hopefully cost under $1,200. =) Thank you.

Almost everywhere you look nowadays, you can see a new notebook advertised for $399 to $499, after rebates. These poorly equiped laptops are destroying the value of older laptops. And I'm not talking about 2000 built laptops, I'm talking about laptops sold 3 months ago. I've tried selling a 1500 laptop I bought less than 3 months ago and the best offers I got were 500 bucks. Of course these fools don't realize that the cheapos at Best Buy are poorly equiped and mine is packed to the gills. Whatever. It's total market saturation.

The fan just doesn't turn on when the computer gets hot. I'm not having any problems like the computer shutting down automatically, but worried that the processor will overheat or something. Should I get a new fan and replace it myself or call geeksquad or something? HELP!

I am going to sell my desktop PC because I have been travelling a lot, and need something more portable. I am a student so am on a tight budget (around $400). I need a laptop that is good for music, video, etc (multimedia). Anyone have an idea on where I can get a good laptop for cheap? I'm in Canada, so I want to find something under $475 with shipping included. I don't need a printer, speakers or a webcam, just the laptop itself. Thanks!

I have a Toshiba laptop and I accidentally left it powered on without being on the charger. When I came back, the battery had died. I plugged the power adapter into the laptop and let it charge for several hours. However, the laptop still will not power on at all. What might be the problem with my laptop?

Been having problems with the Blue Screen of Death. In a previous question about the blue screen I tried readers' suggestions which didn't solve the problem. Now when the computer comes on i get a black sreen. I can start it in safe mode. I ran "msconfig" and in "startup" and under startup item there is a sqaure and under command there is a sqaure too. the location says
"Software-Microsoft-windows-currentversion-run"
I disabled the sqaure and restarted and computer came up and i could get online now. What is that sqaure and is it really the source of my problem?

I didn't put any password on it. This April my laptop was infected by a virus called "Trojan Virus", it affects my system, it disabled Registry Edit but I've downloaded AVG anti-virus and when I remove the virus and reboot my computer it says "cannot locate eksplorasi.exe" and then I've downloaded Ad-aware it fix my problem and now I can open Registry Edit. Is that Trojan Virus put that password on my Bios setup? What should I do?

I have an IBM Thinkpad T21 which is rather temperamental at times (it is not "new", but was bought reconditioned from a guy I trusted). Ocassionally it shuts down and will not turn on for a couple of days, then comes on without any problems when it's had a little rest.

Recently the screen started to flicker, then it started taking ages for the screen to come on - sometimes up to 2-3 minutes. Now the screen does not illuminate at all - I can see the Windows intro screen in the background but the screen is too dark to work on.

There appears to be no problem with the hard-drive and no data is lost etc., so I assume it probably needs a new screen.

My question is - is it going to cost me a fortune to replace the screen?

The laptop was not expensive, so I don't really want to spend a lot fixing it, but it has lots of photos and writing projects on it, which I would be reluctant to lose. I cannot take it back to the guy I bought it from as I am now in another country!
