A year and a half ago I bought an XPS 9100 with all the extras. It has the p4 3.4 HT Extreme Edition, 2GBram @400MHz and a 256 MG 9800 ATI Radeon video card. I do a lot of video editing and I am happy with the system however a week ago it fell about 20 feet. I am concidering getting it fixed but really want a new system. I am looking at the new XPS M2010 and they only offer the Intel.

Intel® Core® T2600 Duo proc (2.16GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

Intel® Core® T2500 Duo Proc (2GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

Intel® Core® T2700 Processor (2.33GHz/667MHz/1 X 2MB L2 Cache)

How will this compare to the Extrem Edition I had with the same video card and 4GB of ram @ 667MHz? And how important is it that you use memory that runs at the same clock speed as the front side bus?

Please geve me answers in plain english because I am no tech guru. I just know that the p4 3.4 HT EE sounds faster than the intel 2.??

I was just sitting at my desk, surfing around with my laptop, when the laptops remote came flying out of it's holder on the side of the laptop. I don't mean it just fell out, it actually flew out. Should I be worried!?

I have an old Gateway 2000 solo Pentium 133. I'm trying to get working. usually when I turn it on, all the display shows is static, or just all white with a black streak. Is there any hope for this? Trash it?

That's the only problem. the "enter" key still has the little metal braces. Thanks for any help out there. My infant son tore it off.

my husband and i have a desktop computer and would like to upgrade to a laptop. we just need the basics. any suggestions for newbies to laptops wanting to spend a moderate amount?

i don't know much about computers but people think i do, anyways i want him to have this atleast

- 1 Gb of ram
- atleast a 60 Gb hard drive
-128 vedio card
-64 or better sound card
- pentium 4 or better
- atleast a 1.5 ghz processor or better ( with 5200 ram )
- dvd+- rw and cd burner
- vista enabled
- 2 usb ports
- and have the card so it can have wirless internet ( i dont' know how works exaclty other than u stick a card in and u jack signal from wirless modems)
- 14'' screen should be good for him
and thats all i know about what i want it to have, i dont' know anymore thats why... but some one please help

im planning to buy an averatec 1100 series
i chose this because i want a laptop that is small(atleast 10.6" screen)
and its cheaper compare with FUJITSU and SONY vaio TX
pls note, i didnt want the averatec 1050 series because it lacks dvd burner and it has a smaller hard drive

My 11 year old son would like a laptop for Christmas. Due to his age, I hesitate to get him an expensive one. Dell and Gateway seem to be reasonable alternatives. If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Which of the two types of computers are more convinient? Which one will you choose and why? The laptop seems to be more convinient because you can carry it around. But I am trying to decide which one is better, other than the fact that the laptop can be carried around. Thanks for your input.

After a windows up-date my laptop crashed. Now when I turn on the computer it stays in command prompt mode and will not start up. Is there any of rescuing my data. Please help!

Everytime I try to start up my laptop, I push the power button, then the power light comes on so it does have power. The lights all flash for an instant(Num Lock, Caps lock, Scroll Lock, etc.) and the speakers click, But the Fan does not come on, nor does the monitor or anything else for that matter. If I leave it on for 20 minutes or so, the fan will kick on but that is all that happens, then after 2 minutes the fan stops and everything is off again except for the light that says the power is on.

The last time I turned it off it was unresponsive and I pulled the plug and the battery. Idon't beleive I have any viruses either.

I need a laptop for college. I always been a pc user but have been told by many people that macbooks are very good. I know it can run both windows and mac os. Only thing i dont like about the macbook is the keyboard.And i heard it gets dirty easily.I dont plan in majoring in graphics or anything like that. Price is not a major consern but considered.
