I definitely would recommend the MacBook. I use it, and I am extremely satisfied with it. The keyboard isn't actually much of a problem. The problem involves the glossy display; fingerprints easily show up, but is easy to remove using a soft fabric. And yes, the MacBook is Vista-capable.

I would recommend the Mac. The palm rest on the mac will get a little discolored after using but if you keep your hands clean and wipe it off every once in awhile it could take awhile. I would assume that the macbook will be able to handle Vista when it comes out. Nice thing is with the macbook you can run either like you said so you can choice which you like and have the best of both worlds. The mac is based on unix/linux kernel so you should see more stability and less likely to get a virus , though there are mac os x viruses they are in far fewer numbers than those aimed at XP.

Macbook. Try to make a trip to an Apple store and test drive one. Ask the employees a lot of questions. If keyboard is an issue, try it out. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Another option is to look at the MBP. A little bit more expensive but the value will hold over the years. If you don't believe me, check out 2-3 year old powerbooks on Craigslist or eBay. After you're done looking, do the same with Dells :)
As for Vista on Macbook, Microsoft themselves demo'd Vista on a Mac :)

I were given a MacBook on the initiating of this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and performance had no problems with it. Macs are lots a lot less confusing to fix and protect than any computer. for instance, you do not ought to format a Mac or go by ability of one/2 an hour installations. to position in a software on a Mac, all you should do is drag the record from that's source for your purposes folder.. and also you're carried out. also, it would not take very lengthy in any respect to get used to a Mac. i imagine that they're a lot a lot less confusing to apply than a computer, fantastically one operating Vista. in case you do get a Mac and confirm that you don't love how Leopard works, you could continuously installation Boot Camp which facilitates you to run abode windows on your Mac. that's amazingly available in case you hit upon you should apply a computer in straightforward words software. all the Microsoft place of work classes are available in for Mac and are a lot a lot less confusing to apply on a Mac than a computer. i could bypass on all day about the way you should get a Mac.. yet when your mothers and fathers are identifying to purchase.. Why no longer get a MacBook professional? they're the suited computing gadget to run abode windows Vista on, over any computer. Get a Mac.
