(After finishing works) is there any harm if I directly disconnect a flash memory/ mp3 player (connected through USB port) from the PC rightaway - without following - "safely remove hardware", "Stop device" these steps?? Please advise, thank you!

we have HP pavilion laptops and need to know exactly what is needed so we can watch tv on them. When I called Circuit City, where we bought them the guy just said we need digital cable and plug it into the back of the laptop. Guess what? no place to plug it in in the back where he said. What do we need and where exactly does it plug in at?

ok so my laptop is a dell 6000, and just as a note, i didn't drop it or spill water on it.

i ran virus and spyware scans and removed 2 viruses (called trojan.vundo)

the keyboard does not work, but the touch pad does.

when you click on something with the cursor, it opens in another window when it normally wouldn't.

when you turn the laptop on with the power button, a diagnostic boot or "pre-boot system assessment build" runs on its own.

but when you turn it on using the media buttons (stop, pauses, play), the diagnostic boot doesn't run, and windows starts normally, but the keyboard still doesn't work.

thanks for any help in advance!

I have a Gateway laptop that I bought in January of this year. Within the past couple of months, the monitor flickers black. The entire display goes in and out. Mostly, it happens when I first turn the computer on but it it seems really random. There doesn't seem to be anything that I'm doing in common when it happens. When I open and close the screen, it fixes it temporarily so I'm inclined to think there is something wrong with the connection between the lcd screen and the computer. I am still covered under my warranty and I sent the computer back to Gateway twice for repairs. Each time it came back with the same problem. My question has two parts. 1) Any idea what could be wrong with it and 2) Can I sue Gateway for a defective piece and failure to comply with the warranty by not fixing the problem?

I have an HP Pavilion Ze5000s LapTop Computer. I bought it brand new and it worked fine when I got it but eventually it got slower and slower and started freezing up. I know you would think its the build up of files and so on but its not. I have reinstalled Windows several times to figure out if it was the files or something of that nature. It definately is Not. I would have to say it is Hardware related. But what hardware? IDK if it could be the memory or not. It makes like a "Grinding noise" when it is freezing/Slowing to a snails pace- Just like the Older computers hard drives make. So I wasnt sure if it could be the hard drive.. IDK !!!! ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP IF THEY ARE OF SOME INTELLIGENCE..... Please no sarcastic answers Thanks.....

I have a newer Toshiba satellite notebook computer, running windows xp with service pack 2.
It has a celeron M processer with 1.6ghz speed.
But only 256mb of memmory.
It runs slow and is not very good at multi tasking(often freezes up)
Could this be because of the low memory?
How much is enough?
Where is the best place to get some?
Thanks.

It's pretty old and only has one USB port, which sucks b/c my ethernet connector thingy goes in one of them but i wouldn't be able to upload songs to my iPod at the same time. And it cuts off even with the adapter plugged into it. Basically, I got it for free and want to trick it out to be a usable laptop for my classes in the fall. Oh and please include costs (in total).

Planning on buying a notebook. Am sure whether to buy the warranty since the cheaper one seems to be within the scope of the manufacturers warranty. The next one is about $380 which is half the price of a new notebook. Can even be the price of a new notebook add two hundreds or so. Any advice?
