Peter, I'm not sure what your question is, but your laptop doesn't have a language. Or at least, not one that anyone speaks. It will run whatever operating system is in it.
If you mean, you buy a laptop in France and try to run an English operating system, it won't make any difference. The computers run on a series of symbols that basically tell it 'yes' or 'no'. And that's all the language it has. As long as the computer you buy operates on an internationally recognized system, like microsoft, you won't have any problems.

If you know the English keyboard very well by heart, then u can configure the computer to recognise it as an English keyboard and then type as though it were one regardless of what is written on the keys. Or you could just learn the French keyboard. Other than that, I would say you should not have any problem.
Best of luck!!

Buy a laptop in French? Well, I'd say, if you speak French fluently.. J/K
Seriously, all computers run on a language called binary.. Which is 1's and 0's..
When it comes down to it, they don't particularly care about what "language" you're using on your o/s..
The keyboard should be the same, roughly.. and if the o/s is set to run in English, that simply means that it'll use the Qwerty set up as default.. Your keys on your keyboard should be the same as one bought in the U.S..
A quick test in typing can help you determine this....
But yeah, as others said, there should be no problems...

As soon as you turn it on, the laptop will surrender to the operating system. Look for the white flag icon in the corner.

That's like driving a German Made Volkswagen in the USA. It still works. The road signs in the USA are in English.
