the pentium was retired from service officially by intel on the 23rd of july 2006

cannot find where i read it
but there is some mention here

There is no Pentium 5. Intel is having following processors above Pentium4!

Kind of. It's just not named the Pentium 5.

The new processors from Intel are called Core-Duo

They ditched the architecture of the Pentium (because it was no good), and re-engineered a new architecture, and thus gave it a whole new name.

Intel stopped using the class system recently - and after the P4 everything just changed to Pentium **** (numbers) and possibly a D, indicating a dual core processor.

I suppose you could call the D processors P5's, but there is no official P5.

not as powerfull...cuz pentium 4 is the best processor if u r a windows user and ur dealing with graphics (ofcourse macontish is the best for graphics)...but there r current processprs which can save power like cintrino

the lastest one is called "Duro Core" which is one CPU contains two chips.
