Centrino is actually a combination of 3 Intel technology. So, if your laptop is certified Centrino, then you'd expect to have a:
1. Pentium-M processor.
2. Intel chipset and;
3. Intel wireless LAN.

I have seen some laptops without the label, I don't know why but still uses the 3 Intel components. If you are wanting to get a laptop, check the specifications with your dealer and find out what is the model of your wireless LAN. They often switch these with other brands like BroadCom and etc. But, the Intel processor and Intel chipset always stays.

It's not easy to detect if your computer is Centrino or not because the cerfitification comes from Intel. It's just like the product is awarded for fully complying with the Centrino standard. Just check under your DEVICE MANAGER.

Under PROCESSOR(S), you should have a Pentium-M.
Under SYSTEM DEVICES, you should see lots of Intel(R) 82xxx.
and Under NETWORK ADAPTERS, there should be an Intel PRO Wireless adapter.

With these 3, it 'should' be complying with Centrino technology.
