I have owned 3 laptops in the past 10 years: A dell, A H-P & my current, a toshiba satellite.

By far, the best has been the Toshiba.

The dell was really good, but very heavy and a short battery life.

The H-P was a total waste of money, and the tech support drove me to xanax addiction. I will NEVER by another HP as long as I live.

This Toshiba is light, very fast, affordable & superb tech support should you need it.

it owuld depend on what you plan to do with it. for gaming and high end graphics ,etc. an alienware aurora or area 51 will do what you want. also dell's XPS and Acer's Ferrari line are both excellent. the laptops can typically run for $1250+ new but are well worth the money. For just a basic type i woudl reccomend a basic dell inspiron. they are relativaly cheap and dell has(usually) really good customer support. for something midrange go with a toshiba satelite or tecra. I have had a toshiba satellite for 3 years and have been very impressed. my motherboard in mine broke once even after the warranty ran out, i took it to one of their shops and the fixed it no questions asked and didn't charge me a cent. Hope this helps!
