You might be using the wrong type of dvd.
Make sure your drive speed is rated for -R and not +R.
My drive burns +R at 16x, but -R at 4x.
Nero doesn't recognize this, and reports the max speed as 16x (at least the version I'm using.)

Another possibility is that nero is competing for drive/system resources.
The rated speed is the max speed if your computer isn't doing anything else.
If there are other processes running, especially ones that access any drives, you probably will experience longer burning times even if you are doing everything else correctly.

BTW:
1x=150Kb per second.
8x =1.2MB per second (1200KB)
1 gig=1000 MB
1.5 gig=1500MB
1500/1.2=1250 seconds
1250/60=20.83 minutes or 20 minutes and 49 seconds

depends on how many Kb/ps. and how many Mb the dvd- r holds

Ok 1 - 11.000 kb is just 11KB per second thats why it is slow
be happy it wasn't longer because 1000Kb = 1Mb 300-400 Mb =1Gb so it would of took an hour but your speen might have not been constant so it changes because you are on the internet loading and things so it slowed down

it is directly proportianal to your sense of self worth.

or

and do some math.

not only that but understand that data transmission and data storage uses different terms and file sizes when talking about data and speed... enjoy...
