I have a Toshiba laptop and I accidentally left it powered on without being on the charger. When I came back, the battery had died. I plugged the power adapter into the laptop and let it charge for several hours. However, the laptop still will not power on at all. What might be the problem with my laptop?

The laptop shows that its charging, first with the orange light when it was first charging. After charging for a day it was green. The laptop is fairly old. I'm thinking it may be the power supply since that was mentioned. Is it possible to get the data off the hard drive still somehow?

i don't think it's the power supply. when it can charge the battery it is not defective, and btw power supplies are normally the last thing that die. i suppose the laptop internal power module is gone, this is the part that goes defective in a lot of cases.

the easiest way to get your data back from the hard disk, get an external 2.5" notebook disk enclosure, remove the HD from the laptop and build it in the enclosure. you can then connect it to every PC with an USB jack.

here some examples of 2.5" hard disk enclosures

Does the laptop have any lights on it while charging? Does the power supply put out any power at all? Check it with a meter to determine IF it is bad or not. Either the laptop has died, which is possible, or the power supply has died, which is just as possible. Without knowing how old it is, or anything else, it is hard to say what is wrong with it. IF it is new and still under warranty I would be calling Toshiba to find out how they are going to fix it for you.

Try taking the battery out and put it back in. Your laptop doesn't need the battery to work. Somewhere on the laptop there should be a light telling you that the laptop is receiving mains power. If it is illuminated then i don't see any reason it shouldn't power up!

undemanding darkish? isn't that an oxymoron? that is it? in the adventure that they undemanding, how can they be darkish? Have someone examine the skill brick with a voltmeter. If that's ok, you likely broke the skill jack.
