i am not sure why you are in your bios? the program is not one that you want, you should be booting up into safe mode and edit msconfig, registry, and do a search for the program.exe and then bypass the bios password with the old no power to board no battery overnight trick. the main thing i think to do tho is that once everything is done, it can all come back if it is in the boot sector of you hard drive, THIS MUST BE OVER WRITEN BE FOR YOU BOOT BACK INTO WINDOWS, and P.S. SYSTEM RESTORE CANNT FIX IT IF IT IS IN THE BOOT SECTOR.
if it stays there, the best advice is to wip the drive and reinstall windows, and be careful that you dont save it in sum type of windows backup utl. or any external or flash drive

Most BIOS password crackers dont work on more modern computers, and depending on who made it the password might be in NonVolitile memory and removing the back up battery may not work either. And yes it is possible that a virus COULD put change the password on you as well, if it can write to the NVRam portion of the BIOS memory.
If it is an HP or a Compaq Laptop, you can call HP tech suppot and get them to give you a one time password, after they validate that you purchased it and the laptop is not stolen. Other manufactures should be able to do the same thing as well. Again they will want to validate that you purchased it and it was not stolen.
There have also been instances of a BIOS update on some of the HP and Compaq systems over the years of causing this problem as well. I personally have an HP laptop that had a password on the BIOS after I updated it. I had to fax them a copy of the invoice of where I had bought the laptop originally, and then they gave me the one time use password to get me into the BIOS.

marion todela did you use to go into BIOS before? If so then you might have accidentally insert password. You cant remove BIOS password without opening it.
Here is what you do if you can open your computer.
1 open your PC very carefully
2 once cover removed do not touch any chip
3 look for small Lithium Battery
4 slowly and carefully remover Battery from socket
5 go and have a coffee
6 after coffee meaning (wait for about 5 minutes)
7 insert battery carefully
8 now close your PC covers carefully
9 plug your PC in mains
10 Boot-up PC your BIOS should be cleared now
no more password enjoy

I dont think that virus has put a password for your BIOS. There are some known password crackers available depending on your BIOS. Search the net for the same with your BIOS Manufacturer and you might find a crack.
