Browse in http://www.tigerdirect.com for some cheap computers, includng laptops. You can buy a pretty cheap one for $300, but it wont have a good graphics card or a lot of memory. you can find a basic one that will let you surf the internet and check your emails.
or you can even try buying one on http://www.amazon.com or http://www.ebay.com They will surely have laptops for under $300.
