Your laptop should be equipped with 802.11b or g, or a combination of both, wireless card. Have you checked to see if the college you are going to has 'wireless capability; ? Most do have wireless now. If not, you might want to purchase a wireless USB 2.0 Adapter and a USB cable. This extra will give you more opportunity and range to locate 'hot-spots' you can use for internet.

which tells about Wi-Fi locations, offering wireless access to the Internet.
