I'm currently obsessed with Sims 2... and it freezes up too much... I have changed the graphic settings on the game to as minimal as possible and it STILL acts up. My husband said I needed a graphics card, would that really help my game? And if so, would you recommend one that Dell would sell? (I have an account with them). Also, what is the difference between a graphics card and a video card (the sims website recommends a video card)? Thanks!

G4 i-book earlie 2006, It has not accepted blank discs since i've had it. i thought this was because i didn't have programs to support it and a bit of laziness as i wasn't using it much.

for some reason my hard drive wont turn on when i plug it in. I was running out of open usb ports so i plugged in a Dynex 7-port usb hub to get more. i have owned this product for a few months and have always been successful with it. Then the other day when i plugged it and my external 80GB hard drive in it was working fine. i went to the bathroom while my game from the external was loading and everything was fine. when i came back, i smelt something like chlorine, but i figured why get up and look when i can play my game for 2 more mins, its probably nothing serious. When the smell started getting really strong i knew it was near me, before this it was a very weak smell so i figured it was in my neighbors yard or something. i looked around and saw nothing but then looked at the usb hub. it had white smoke pouring out of it. my game had shut off anf my hard drive failed to appear. I tried plugging it in but nothing happened. Does anyone know what happened wrong.

I've heard really bad stories about the apple accessories (keys sticking and scroll balls locking after 2 or 3 months) and would like to know what better options are out there.

I'm also not looking to spend that much. Just ones that work and don't break so quickly...

how do u install sound into a computer?

Ok well what happened is that two days ago I was workiing on my pc with no ESD protection (I didnt know). I reseated a stick of RAM, touched my video card maby around 10 times and installed a sound card, and touched my motherboard 3 times (with one finger). Well my components work fine but on the Internet I read that ESD may not cause damage immediatley. Do you think I am worrying too much?

These are the items listed under sound, video, and game controllers in Device Manager:

Crystal PnP Audio System Codec
Crystal PnP Audio System Control Registers
Crystal PnP Audio System MPU-Compatible
Disabled Device

It also says all devices are working properly except for the disabled one, which has no driver installed. When I tried to download a driver, it said the best driver was already installed!
I tried removing and reinstalling everything with Add Hardware but it didn't help.

The upshot is I have no sound on my computer. No device sounds, no speakers, nothing but the modem sound.

Is there a way to fix this or should I just yank it all and try the Creative sound card I have in another computer?

I have a Dell computer and am running Windows 98.
