Yes two of the 256 models in SLI would be faster than a single 512 card of the same specs. In SLI you are not only getting 512 of memory, but a second GPU to split the workload with. However, if you can afford two of the 7900GSs, you should really look at an 8800GTS 640MB, it will outperform two 7900GSs in SLI, is DirectX10 which makes it future proof, and will cost about the same or maybe even a little less.

two 256 will runs faster than one 512, I agree with whats his face up there get the bigger card it'll be way better and cheaper.
