I need to custom build a desktop for my calculation project. Have anyone used any add-on hardwares that can make a PC super-quiet for 1 yr or 2 yrs and cool (since I'll let it run 24/7)

I want to upgrade my pc and I have noticed the prices of the 7950 have dropped. I want a 512 mb card and I dont want to shell out $400 to $500 to get it. I will most likely go sli later but for now I will just use the one. Would spending the extra green realy be worth getting the 8800gt or gtx? I most likely wont go sli w/ them at there cost but the 7950 I will.

My other system specs are a core 2 duo e6400 @ stock and 2 gigs of DDR2-667. To run Crysis on max @ 2560 x 1600 with 60 fps before major frame rate optimization it took a Core 2 extreme x6800, 2 gigs of ram, and one 8800 gtx. So considering that the game will be optimized and I am playing at a much lower resolution, do you think I can run Crysis on high? By high I mean most settings on high, a few on medium, light or no anti-aliasing, and full antrisopic filtering.

I'm having problems with my sims2 and I've heard more than once that it maybe a problems with my video card (the game does move really slow). I read in the pamplet that comes with the game that you can upgrade your video card driver from the manufacturer's website but I went there and nothing. Should I just buy another and which one is the best one for this game. I bought a whole new computer for the game itself like a year ago just to have a better video card.

I have a Sempron 2800+ with 512 DDR. my on-board graphics adapter is 32MB. Is it ok for me to install a video card that has 64MB SDR? what is better? to retain the 32MB on-board vidadapter or install the 64MB SDR agp vidcard?

I was given a radion X1800XL graphics card by a friend,who said his prosseser burnt out and he was not sure if the card still worked.I put it in my computer and got a broken picture.Has anyone sent there card back to the maker to see what was wrong with it .I have no bill so cant take it back to were it was bought.I would just like to know what was wrong with it as a matter of intrest.

I just purchased a new Dell Diminsion E521 and I didn't order the DVD burner because I already had a nice Sony DL burner. Get my new computer and I have a problem - the new computer has SATA connections and the burner is ATAPI. No problem, I'll just get one of those IDE to SATA adapters. I plug everything in and fire up the computer and I have one little problem. Not only does the drive not work, but Windows doesn't even see it.

I know the drive works fine because I just used it about a week ago with my XP computer and it worked just fine.

The drive is a Sony DRU-820A which is about a year old. And I did check to verify that the jumper on the drive was set to master.

New computer is a Dell Dimension E521 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Any thoughts on what I can do short of buying an IDE expansion card or buying a new drive?

Interested in upgrading my Pentium 4. So far AMD seems to offer the better value, but I hear they have a problem with overheating. If you have any experience with an AMD processor, or know of a great budget chip I would love to hear about it.

how do I know which graphic card are good. Is it the memory on the graphic card like 512mb or 256mb or the refresh rate. Right now I'm looking at this graphic card, can someone tell me if it is good.

Okay, so I have an old Compaq Hard Drive from an older computer, which I know is still in great condition- just with out a laptop (DK23AA-12). I also have a HP Hard drive from a pavilion.

They both were interchangeable for the two computers, meaning they have the same "plugs". I now have this brand spanking new computer, and the extra 90 gigs wouldn't hurt (even if it were external space). My new computer is a Dell Inspiron E1705 running Vista. What ways can I use these two hard drives, and yes I am okay only using one of them. I don't care if it is external or internal, I just am curious to how I would go about it. Connections, programs needed, yata yata.

I am thinking about water cooling my AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600+ s AM2.I want to know if it would be dumb of me to spend the money i was going to spend on WCing to get a 65w x2 4600+?I will NOT be overclocking.My temps on my x2 i have now idle at 47c and gaming the computer turns off.When i turn it back on and go into the BIOS the temp is 67c.So WCing or 65w cpu?

BUT I can't seem to install it, Windows Simply recognizes it as a "PCI DEVICE" How do i make it be recognized as an Multimedia Audio thing? OR MAKE IT WORK EVEN????
