I need to custom build a desktop for my calculation project. Have anyone used any add-on hardwares that can make a PC super-quiet for 1 yr or 2 yrs and cool (since I'll let it run 24/7)

Thanks

If you want a really quiet PC, then you want a fanless PC. The online store here has a lot of fanless components and even offers customizable fanless PCs. Whether they're what you want or not I don't know, but I think it's worth a look:

The projects listed on the main website there are also interesting to look at and read about:

Some of those components may be available at other online stores.

Use the Zalman Reserator 2 for cooling. It is super quiet because there are no fans.

You can also insulate the interier of the case being careful to keep air flowing.I used 1 inch thick foam and it got 50% quieter.

the only thing you can do is look for fans with a noise rating of 25db or less
