Thanks for all the answers, i've tried interchanging the RAM and inserting 1 at a time also the monitor and graphics card are all plugged in. I did earth myself before touching the RAM. I guess there is either a problem with compatability that needs checking out or i have faulty RAM. Unless anyone has any other suggestions!

Check to see if they are the same speed, if so it may be that it is bad. The easiest way to check is to put it into another computer, maybe a friend's, to check and be sure it is good. Are you removing the old Ram first? If not, they need to be the same speed as it is.

So far nobody has mentioned the first thing you should check. Put the original ram back on it's own and see if that works. It's all a process of elimination. If that fails then obviously you have damaged something else. If it works then it's your new ram that is the problem. get it checked at a good computer shop. Hope this helps.

Unplug the PC. Try installing 1 RAM module first on the slot closest to the processor or DIMM1. Turn on the PC. If ok, shutdown, unplug and do it again w/ the other module. If ok again, shutdown, unplug and insert now the other RAM module on the next slot. If nothing happens, reinstall the RAM modules BUT interchange their position. This last step worked for me once on a laptop and twice on different desktops.

If one of the modules do not work on DIMM1, something is wrong w/ that module.

If either modules do not work on DIMM1, there might be compatibility issue w/ your motherboard.

1. Is your monitor plugged in, and do you hear some beeps, such as beep! beep-beep-beep! (I know this sounds silly, but there you are. Most likely cause) If not, plug it in. If you have a graphics card, plug it into the right port.

2. Is your monitor plugged in and you still hear beeping? The RAM might be a dud. If one stick is a dud, then the computer blatantly refuses to work. Take all but one stick out, ensure the only stick is in the SIMM or DIMM marked 0, and turn on.

There are a few things that might of happened here:

1. You have purchased the wrong RAM

2. You have damaged the RAM when installing

3. You did not earth your self when touching the RAM.

I advise taking it to your local computer shop they can not charge you more then £10 to assess what is wrong with your RAM.
