Seagate & WD are THE TWO hard drive brands preferred by top level IT professionals .... PERIOD !

Maxtor (& all others .. even Hitachi) pale in comparison when it comes to proven failure rate statistics.

Maxtor drives have died on me several times over the years yet I still have a few Seagate & WD drives (in old PCs I keep just for fun) that are almost 20 years old & work perfectly.

Forget the "pros & cons" response you are seeking .... trust me on this .... I've been in the industry for almost 2 decades & personally will NEVER buy anything other than Seagate or WD.

Philip T

Well, I don't know anything about Maxtor, but my old 1995 computer has a Seagate that still works and my other 3 computers I've built since then all have Western Digital. Only one started to go bad with less than 1 month left for the warranty period and W.D. replaced it for FREE. Need I say more?
