My computer has no com ports and I need to use a device that only connects to a com port.

The USB Serial Adapter is a dongel with a USB A connector on one end, and a DB9M connector on the other.

The 9-pin com port you refer to is more technically known as a RS-232 so you want a device called a USB to RS-232 converter dongle.

You need a driver that uses usb to emulate serial connection
and use hyperterminal to connect the device to a communication port Prolific is a vendor that makes such drivers they are prodominate in gps and null modems sets

You can try a usb adapter, but a simple pci card with serial ports is your best bet, provided your computer has an empty slot.... They cost about around 20 bucks, here's an example:

I Hope you can get that to work; We have been trying these dongles, average cost about 32 dollars and up, and nothing ever works
