My other system specs are a core 2 duo e6400 @ stock and 2 gigs of DDR2-667. To run Crysis on max @ 2560 x 1600 with 60 fps before major frame rate optimization it took a Core 2 extreme x6800, 2 gigs of ram, and one 8800 gtx. So considering that the game will be optimized and I am playing at a much lower resolution, do you think I can run Crysis on high? By high I mean most settings on high, a few on medium, light or no anti-aliasing, and full antrisopic filtering.

Well it is immensly difficult to predict performance of future games, but as a rough estimate I would say that yes it should run under the conditions you stated. But, by the time Crysis is out, there will most likely be new DirectX 10 cards out, so if you are buying the card primarily for that game, wait until it comes out, then you can probably get a better card then for the price you would pay for the XFX8600GTXXX now.

the 2nd quantity is the form of horizontal traces. 1024 traces would be particularly greater helpful than 768. there's no longer a great form of perceived difference between 1280 and 1366 pixels. i could decide for the 1280 x 1024.
