I am replacing my graphics cards ,would it be better to just take out the old graphics card or leave it in my pc as i have a spare slot ?
any help appreciated .....pros/cons

It depends if the one that's currently in is SLI or crossfire compatible (or your motherboard for that matter.)
If it is, get a second one that will allow you to utilise this.
Otherwise take the current one out, as all it will do is confuse the OS.

You can run two only in sli mode and that's if the cards are of this format...take the old one out and install the new!

No, never burden your PC with hardware that isn't being used, it would only take up resources for no reason (such as IRQ's / DMA's, etc.) And, you still can't use both at the same time, regardless.

Unless you are planning to use it, meaning to run two monitors, there is not reason to leave it on. Would just use up memory and resources needlessly.
