I got a laptop before vista came out so they gave us this voucher to get it when it comes out but the laptop broke so i was wondering what do i need to make my computer work because it not as good as most computers today and if i replace my 256md memory with a 1GB or 2GB will i lose any thing?

The Vista upgrade is very easy just put in the dvd and it will guide you through. if you upgrade memory nothing will be lost your computer will just run faster

Your computer will handle at least Vista Basic if you have a computer that says Vista Compatible. I would recommend at least 1 gb or memory and at least 20 gb available on the hard drive.

Only put Vista on the pc if the video card is supported by Vista, otherwise, it will be miserable!!!

Also, you'll need at least 1gb ram for Vista.

Use http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ to determine what kind of memory you need. More memory is better, and doesn't hurt anything.

just put in the disc and it will guide you through, make sure you have an upgraded video/graphics card, when you install it the screen will go black for approx. 30-40 minutes, that is normal so dont panic

if you replace the memory you won't loose anything
