I have SBC yahoo/AT&T DSL, but everytime it rains, it dies for sometimes up to a week. The Techs down there are either so stupid they have no idea, or just stumped. I've had it for about 9 months, they've changed my modem 3 times and said "I have no idea" about a million. I'm having a tech come in again today, but I'm not expecting much. They've actually said they've exhausted all their resources and offered to transfer me to someone else (for a lovely surcharge -_-;;) Anyone have any idea what's going on or what to do?

I have a dell 3000cn color laser printer and noticed that when i print color pictures that span the size of the entire page then at the bottom (regardless if its printed landscape or portrait) a slight redish line appears at this lower region of the page (in the printing area)...It doesn't look like its printing more red in this area but looks like some kind of burn-in or something that appears slight red. Not sure what it is....Any ideas what it is and what i can do to resolve this.....

Can you give me instructions for the dell 3000cn on each of your steps?

I have a new HP a6110n. It has 2gb DDR2 RAM already, but I just bought a nvidia 7600 GT 256mb video card to play some games. Would the extra gig make much of a difference, how about 2 more gigs? Do new fans make a difference in performance? anyone know another way to boost performance?

Firstly, please forgive my lack of knowledge about technology. I have seen people carrying around a tiny little 'key looking' thing that they plug into their USB ports. Apparently they allow you to transfer information from computer to computer, what are these things called? My mom is a writer and wants one for her bday but I can't look for them if I don't know what they're called. :) Also any websites where they're sold would be very appreciated!! Thanks!!

I have HP Vs17 Monitor. I had no idea about the monitor refresh rate. I was just checking some settings and found this setting on the monitor tab. It was selected to 60 Hz. But accidently I enabled it to 75 Hz. My monitor's resolution is 1280*1024 pixels and I have 128 MB graphics card in built. After selecting that my display turned a bit fuzzy but I think much clearer than b4. Then I found the warning which tells higher refresh rates are good but It may hamn my monitor's hardware. So, i quickly restored it to default 60 Hz. Did my monitor get hurt ??? What's this refresh rate all about??? Where do I get addintional help on this....Which Hp site..where ??? And pls make it clear on what refresh rate is !
Thanks in Advance ! :D

The computer will be used mainly for word processing, some spreadsheets, taxes, internet, foreign language software, and occasional games for our small daughter. I'd like to have the computer for at least a few years.

I'd like a computer that can do some video stuff--basic stuff. I'd also like to start saving lots of music to the computer, which I haven't on my 2000 Windows ME destop (I know, I know...)

So, first question--Based on the above, PC, Apple, or it doesn't matter?

First question--If PC, is there really any choice of OS, or is Vista all that's out there now?

Second question--Minimum chip speed, hard drive, type of burner, monitor screen size (I'm tossing the old 14" that's been with the current computer). The more info, the better. (Graphics and sound suggestions are helpful too if you have some off the top of your head.)

Third question--Any guess as to $$$ for your recommendation?

Thanks for any recommendations and information.

I have a second computer I built myself for the kids, and the hard drive has failed. I happen to have a SATA hard drive lying around, but the motherboard on the computer doesn't have SATA capacity. If I buy a SATA controller card, will I be able to use the computer with just the SATA hard drive? In other words, can I boot the computer and install Windows in this configuration, or does adding a SATA card require an existing, working hard drive with an OS installed?
