Unless this was a custom built system, laptop vendors tend to have an image of the OS that walks the user through an initial configuration wizard to set the computer name, user login, password, and some basic network settings. If you are getting a password and legitimately purchased it, contact the vendor and they'll provide the information for you. I can't imagine a reputable vendor selling laptops though that have a default configuration that doesn't allow the users to actually use the system.
We also don't know what password you are referring to. You could have any of the following:
- BIOS password
- Encryption password
- Operating system password

Bad luck! I think you got a stolen laptop! Because new laptops never have passwords, and even if they do it will say what it is in the manual.

its obviously not new, because it has a password. new laptops do not have passwords. what password are you talking about BIOS password or Windows password
