I want to be able to play games, watch HD movies, Edit Sound (make music using pro software), Microsoft Office Use and internet use with downloading.

Should i go for laptop or desktop. i already have a desktop but its only single cpu which i built a year and half ago. Please help the best option for me. thanks

and HD movies is important blu ray and hd dvd. I already use a HDTV as my pc monitor so if i were to get a laptop would i be able to connect it to the tv. thnks

Well that totally depends on if you ever want to travel with it! That's really the main consideration - do you want to be portable with it. A desktop will be more powerful, can keep it connected to your TV/cable if you want through a number of ways. But, ya can't take it with you.

I tend to say that if you're undecided, go for the laptop. Then you can take it with you to friends, stick it in a backpack, get on the Internet in tons of different places, etc. You can always connect it to an external monitor if you find that at home you need a big screen, etc.

Tough choice - but a fun one to have!

If mobility is now one of your considerations, then get a laptop. For games and HD video just put a Geforce 8600 or 8800 series on your desktop. Its PurevideoHD capability should suit you well.

Since you have built your own computer, you should know that you can't modify or upgrade a laptop as easily as a desktop. With a desktop, you can get one with plenty of room for expansion-two or three PCIE slots plus Etc.

go for a good PC with a reasonable price and if you really need it buy a cheap laptop to take with you... i voted for the PC because it's very easy and cheap to upgrade... as you can see computers go obsolete really fast and upgrading a laptop would mean buying a new one (way more expensive than upgrading a desktop PC)

I prefer desktops since they last longer and are easier to upgrade and usually come with more stuff at a lesser price.

for your NEEDS, you need desktop
for your WANTS, you need to have laptop at the same time
if you value your money just upgrade your old computer
if not upgarde it and buy laptop
