Hardware - September 2007

Ok right, a week ago, my laptop fell over on a table and the charging port broke, i had to send it into dell, they fixed it, and it arrived back two days ago.

I noticed now there is a new problem, when i close the laptop lid, it will not stand by, when it is in stand by and i open the lid, it will not turn on.

I checked power options in control panel, and everything seems fine.

What is this problem? Can i solve it?

i did the dumbest thing i uninstalled my usb drives on divice maniger but now my usbs don't work when i start my pc the it trys to find the hardware it comes out to be unknown and nothing installs i need the drivers bad plz help

The date and time would always reset to jan 1, 2004 and all previous settings would reset to defaults..in the start up screen after the ide detection these warnings appear:

system loaded default settings due to overclocking....blah blah blah....

ihad never overclocked my cpu...

READ CAREFULLY here. I have a Sharp Aquos 37" LCD TV. There were many different models of the 37" Aquos LCD TV. Some came with a VGA adapter, some came with a DVI (HDMI) adapter, and some didn't come with any. The native resolution is an awkward one. I've connected my computer to this television in every possible way, using every possible cable at every possible resolution. I either get no picture, blurry picture, pixelated picture or ghosted picture. When used as a TV, it is awesome! When used as a monitor, it is very poor. I WANT EVERYONE'S EXPERIENCED OPINION on what they prefer as an LCD TV (not plasma) and I want all the specs too please. I want to know what cable you are using and how it connects. Is it composite, component, DVI/HDMI VGA S-video whatever. I want to know what video card, what resolution on the card AND what the native (preferred/default) resolution is on the LCD TV. What size it the TV, the model # etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

When I brought my computer up today there was no sound. I checked to see if real player is installed. it is. I checked vol control. All Ok no Mutes Ran it with Launchcast and also tried to listen to some radio stations on air. Got nmothing. I do get static from speakers so I know they are on. ASignal just not getting to them.

I have an intel celeron processor. I am not totally sure the model, in the my computer general info section of my computer it says Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.20GHz Speed: 2199 MHz will this work? What would the game play be like (fast? slow? crappy?) and I would really prefer to hear from people with this processor or who really know what they are talking about so I don't buy it and find out that it won't work on my computer.

I recently replaced my power supply and now everytime I turn on my computer, It frezzes on the blue HP start up screen or sometimes I get a error screen that says "Reboot and select Boot Media. I bought it new last year and I followed some procedure I found online to find the name of my graphics card, but the name and manufacturer were blank. I'm getting an error message stating my video card drivers or either not updated or not supported but I can't confirm which one it is because I can't find info on my graphics card.

8800 ULTRA OVERCLOCKED 768MB PCIe

Now it says i need a powersupply of at least 400W which i have 550W. and a 12V current rating of 30A? what does this mean? and does it matter since i have enough powersupply. i know i have a 12V but iunno what the 30A means?

if a gigabyte is 1024 megabytes and i have a 1gb memory stick, and i only get 950mbs from it, why am i getting ripped off of the other 74mbs?

My computer is fairly new and has always acted fine. There isn't much space on it taken up. But its been acting weird. Two weeks ago it froze and i couldn't turn it off the proper way. So I had to push the button on the PC to turn it off. Then id leave it off for a few minutes and go to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on. So i would have to wait a few more minutes to finally get it to turn on. Then a few days ago i woke up and my computer was frozen. The time on it stopped. So i turned it off and turned it on and it was fine again. Then this morning i woke up and the same thing happened only it seemed like when i pressed "start" to turn it off some of the programs were dissapearing. But i turned it off and turned it on and now its running fine. Is this a virus? Is there anything i can do to fix this or...it seems like when i restart it, it acts fine but its becoming a daily thing to restart it.

Its Windows XP 2003 home edition by the way

I have an HP desktop pc that has the pentium 4 processor 3.0ghz, but he motherboard can support a 3.4ghz pentium 4 processor! being the pentiums 4's sell for dirt cheap on ebay etc. could i buy a 3.4ghz one and replace my 3.0 ghz one? if so, do i just take the old one out and put the new one in and turn the pc on (like installing memory!) or is there more to it than that?
