Just built my PC, got OS working, sound drivers, video drivers just installed. Loaded Mobo CD that came with it to see what was on it. Do I install the drivers that come on the CD? Or am I good?

I have a toshiba satellite, and somehow or another i must have deleted the touchpad driver because it wont turn back on and the icon is gone. How do i , if i can, get it to work again?

Whenever I try to record me saying something with my mic, it works, but in bad quality. And I bought my new one for 40 bucks.
But then I unplugged it, and the computer picked up my voice, so im guessing that's why it sounds so low-quality. Anyway to fix that? The computer picking up your voice by itself, without the mic?

I deleted all history ect on a daily basis and ive also right clicked on my local disk (C Drive) gone into properties and compacted my files hoping it would help. How do i defrag and please someone out there,are there any other way of sorting this? I dont hold a lot on my latop other than photos. About 3 months ago I built this new PC upgrading from a Pentium 2.8GHz processor with 1.75GB of RAM and good size harddrives to boot. (pardon the pun) However the machine that I have built has the following specs:

Core2 Duo -1.86GHz
1GB of RAM (so far)
2 - 200GB harddrives

My 2.8GHz P4 processor, speed-wise, was actually ahead of it's numbers and that included no over-clocking, etc. This new machine seems like it's running at about the same speed. It seemed like this was running much faster when I first installed the OS and programs for the first month or so, now, as I said, it seems like it's just a really fast Pentium 4. I expect FAR more out of this Core2 Duo. What can I check/do to speed it up, and please list anything and everything - maybe there's something I'm missing.

I am currently teaching myself 3ds max, my laptop has been doing fine until now, but now i am starting to do more complex designs, rendering time is starting to get a bit silly! I dont have the exact figures to hand, but my laptop is approx 3Ghz Pentium 4 HT, 1024mbRam, 128mb Graphics. I am on a budget (i.e. ebay here we come!), what sort of spec should i look out for purely to use for rendering in 3ds max?

My computer is new, but it didn't seem to come with a micophone. I have an add-on microphone on my computer, but when I use it on messenger or for anything on my computer it gives of a screeching sound, like when you put a microphone too close to the speaker...

What causes this? And how can I fix this?

I have an ATI all in wonder 8500 right now (128MB). I have been looking to upgrade and trying to understand what I need is difficult.
I usually play games, Iike to watch and record TV on my computer and I sometimes play videos from my computer to my tv. I was wondering if some one could suggest me a video card with all these capabilities. I'd prefer to have about 256 MB of ram. Thanks for you help!
