my laptop has 256MB RAM and i want to upgrade to more memoey.. I read somewhere that maximum upgrade is only 512MB but there are certain sites where you can buy 1GB for an insprion 1200.. just wanted to know if thats possible without overkilling the laptop..? at moment laptop is quite slow.. :(

i tried to switch the plugs(connected to the web cam) and it still don't work. i can't find the booklet that came with it so how do i connect it up? i did a web cam test through yahoo and it is not connected. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

i turned off my laptop last night and now it doesnt wanna turn on =[ theres a little light flashing on it and under the light is a tiny picture of a plug. many of you might say to take it back to the store where i got it but i didnt get it at a store so thats not an option for me...its fairly new and i really need some answers cause i dont know whats going on!

When I shut down the computer, the fan stays running and the light on the power button remains lit with a yellow/amber color. What could be causing this?

It just started happening yesterday. The only way to get the computer back up is to unplug it and plug it back in. Pushing the power button when it is like that does not work.

It is an e-machine, 2.7 GHz Intel Celeron, 80 GB with 1G Ram and I have Windows XP

While I was on the net, my HP suddenly rebooted itself. Now whenever I turn it on, it just continuously reboots itself. It only gives me two oppotions Normal Windows or safemode, but if you click on it, it never gets you to WindowsXP. What could be the problem, and how do I fix it?

When I woke up this morning and turned on my laptop, I noticed I had to turn my volume all the way up to hear any audio. I thought it might have been the speakers until I discovered it did the same thing for my earbuds, which are perfectly fine. I scanned my computer for viruses with AVG; found none. I scanned for spyware with SpyBot and Ad-Aware; found the usual but nothing out of the ordinary.

What's wrong with my computer's audio?

(BTW -- I also checked the audio settings and everything, it was all normal)

The system seems to hang-up during booting. It only displays Windows XP home edition, there are times that it boot normally but with so much time. I encountered this last time and I just reformat the hard drive, but after a few weeks here it is again... Please help me with this.. Thanks in advanced!

Every time I put in a disk and double-click on the A-Drive, after a few seconds, it tells me to "please insert a disk into Drive A."

The disk is properly inserted, and Windows (XP home) insists everything is working properly.

I recently switched the A-Drive from this computer with an identical one (same make/model) and that's when the problems began. Should I try to switch the original A-Drive back in? Or is there another culprit at work here?

I have a 300gb IDE hard drive and a maxtor 'one touch' enclosure. when I put the drive in the enclosure and plug it in to my pc, it won't recognize it. do I need to use some software or install a driver?

I've tried it on 3 pcs and had no luck anywhere. any help would be great.

Ok i recently bought a bluetooth dongle when i tried installing the software to set this up it crahed out on me and would not restart trying to restart in safe mode did not work etc among other thing and in the end a local engineer came out to look at it he removed the hard drive and internal batter and put it back in set up the dos options i.e. boot from drive first and he then put the recovery disks in once this started i was happy enough for him to leave it with me!once the recovery dick had done its thing and normally you would reboot and windows would then set up it did not do this instead i got a system 32 error after 5 mins of blk screen saying ntoskrnl i then tried to repair using a windows disk but could not do then i tried to install windows from a windows disk instead when doing this the pc come back on line for a few days but after a few updates or switching ot off and bk on etc it crashes out then i need to recover again and use windows dick again any ideas? of how to sort

How do I change the speed. My Motherboard says it can handle up to 800Mhz. The ram is Ocz Gold XTC 2x1 Gb. My motherboard is an ECS junker BUT it says it can do 800Mhz. I have looked in the bios and see nowhere about changing ram speed or timings. Just how much I have installed.
