i wanted to add a port for digital video editing, but i have no pci slots left that i want to take out if i dont have to.

Is a usb to firewire cable even worth it or is it too slow for good video capture?

Also I have a section on my motherboard next to the usbs that says 1394 on the board, it has no pins sticking out an is just a few flat solder points. The motherboard manual says "1394 optional"
im not quit sure, but I believe id have to solder some crap (the header) on the board to get that to work, which is beyond my electronics ability.

any thoughts would be great.

I have a monitor and keybord for the Mac Mini, but I see the iMac has features like Airport and Bluetooth which I don't use now and I don't want to get stuck with a small monitor if I can help it.

FYI I do graphic design and aim to do some video editing in the future. Thanks!

I've got a junker-type computer that hasn't been used in a while but that I'd like to try and use again. It's a pc that I believe did have xp on it, but the system is completely destroyed with virus' or whatever else could happen to it. What I want to do is just wipe it all out and start fresh (if possible). I've tried using 'restore to a later date' and other boot options but with no luck, and I don't think I have an xp CD anymore. Any help on how to completely re-start my system?

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and I just installed Windows Vista. I now can't change my display off of 640 x 480 and 16-bit color. Additionally, the Ethernet does not work, which is REALLY irritating.

I've got a Fujitsu Siemens C Series Lifebook laptop and in the last few weeks I've been having trouble turning it on. You press the button and you can hear the fan begin to spin but nothing after that. Occasionally it takes a couple of attempts to switch it on but then other times no matter what you try it won't turn on. Have tried giving the switch a good clean but without any luck... any ideas?

I changed the settings to "grayscale" which I think is like draft mode to help cut down on ink. I only wanted to use this for my own personal printing. When I changed it back to regular printing and unchecked the grayscale for a more formal print job, the print is still very light, like it was with grayscale. I changed the ink cartridge even tho it was half full, just in case, but, still having same problem. And I went to every setting I could find to make sure it wasn't still checked Anywhere...help? also, I have a laptop, how do I print "screen" only? not a whole web page....than you

What I don't understand is, why would a computer that has been running fine for a couple years now all the sudden need another fan. Could the computer be locking up due to anyother reason?

The form that I'm trying to print is at http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/leaflets/41-LS.pdf.

I have tried saving it into my computer and printing, but cannot do so. Whenever I try to print, the Print to File box appears and asks for an output file name. I have tried entering various names for the file, but no printing takes place. It's not my printer because it can print Word documents and pictures without any problems. Please help.
