A recent review (source list) lists BitDefender as the best overall Anti-Virus software. AVG is another popular "free" package, but it came in eighth.
No other "free" AVs made it in the top ten.

bit defender is definetly the best anti virus....but its not free....it costs a lot....if u want a free antivirus the best 1 2day is AVG 7.5
the other 1s u can try is norton which is good but requires much more space than avg

Yes, BitDefender is more than AVG in term of security but if you want your system be free from the memory and processing burden of antivirus software then switch for AVG because it is specially developed for XP systems and is very light.
