i'm about to start a big, long, cpu intensive task on a laptop.

i have no other choice, as all of my desktops are too old to do it.

what is the highest cpu core temperature that i can let my laptop get to before i should start to worry about damages and abort the task?

if it matters, i have a 1.83ghz macbook with a core duo.

ok so games on my computer have been running really laggy so i read that you should up your ram on your computer if you want to fix that .. i have a Dell Dimension 4600...it has 256mb of ram and i want it up to 1gb.. what would be the best ram stick for that and where can i buy it?

My family recently got a laptop and we also have a home computer.. both dells. How do you print things from the laptop directly to the pprinter we have downstairs that is onnected to the other computer. For now, i have been just emailing it to myself and opening it up to the home computer so i can print if off that way. Do i have to get a printer router or something?

Just upgraded my PCs memory from 256MB to 1GB. Installed the new RAM as per instructions, re-booted the PC, all was well until I went and checked 'My Computer' properties to confirm the newly installed RAM to find the memory as only 480MB!!!

What on earth is going on here? Please HELP!

I have been a big online gamer for years and my newest pc is a p4 3.0 ghz(no pci express)...

I have always bought pentium,but never got AMD,even though I always hear AMD is the better gaming processor.(how true is this?)

I was wondering, what the best gaming processor would be ;duo core or amd fx?

Also what is the best out of these : duo core extreme or AMD FX x2?

I am about to spend some good money on another really good gaming pc and dont wanna regret it after I buy it. Thanks in advance for your answers all:)

I have got a 14" with something like 1200x800 resolution max, and there is a new laptop with a 15.4 " screen with something like 2000x1500 . Will the higher resolution make everything better on the eyes or since it is a little larger is the resolution not going to be that much better?

A CheapOne!!!!!!!!!!! It is a Tiny N18 Laptop. I was looking for either an internal one, if it easy to change, or an external one, as i've heard that you can get a battery that will clip on underneath and you plug into the mains charger port on the computer. if yu could add a link to this, it would be brillant. thanks

Everything is working fine, but it just is slower than my p4 2.66. It seems to recognize the two cores in the performance monitor. Do I need to do anything else? Do I need to re-install windows?

I have never owned a macintosh machine, but I am very interested/curious to get an iMac. My favorite stuff to do on the computer are multimedia, pics, videos, websites, music, and internet. I've heard iMacs have nice features for those types of things. My fiancee calls iMacs "communist". He says I'd better not get one. He won't give me a REASON. We already have two PC's and two laptops between us. (We both had one of each before we got together). Why does he hate them? It's just a machine (aka a toy for me)

Do I need a driver update for the radeon? I downloaded the latest but it does nothing useful. I do not get the advanced controls to turn off v-sync or a/a and this and that. The latest radeon driver does not support the x1600 for macs yet appearantly? Is this true? I can't find anything on the internet about it. I'd really like to see what this puppy has.

I'm looking to upgrade my PC soon and am not sure which route to go. I currently have a Radeon 9800 pro - I want to upgrade it (I'm getting entire new PC) but am not sure if dual video cards or a decent single card would be better?

Or should I keep the Radeon and just get a smoking motherboard & processor, etc and upgrade video later?

I play online EverQuest 2, as well as Oblivion and The Sims 2

I only have about $1k (give or take) total to spend and will be ordering from cyberpowerpc.com

Any advice is much appreciated.

PS I'm already planning on going AMD with a sata2 hard drive
